Robert E. "Bob" Schnars
Before retirement, he was employed as a tool & die maker at Universal Tooling and previously by Premium Tool & Die. In earlier years, he was a mechanic at various locations.
In earlier years, he raced at Stateline and Eriez Speedways earning the nicknames "Cannonball" and "Busti Bobby." During his racing career, he won several late model point titles and was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. He was a past member of the Busti Men's Association.
Bob enjoyed camping, being outdoors and NASCAR. He loved his grandkids and dogs and was always willing to help anyone out.
He is survived by his wife, Joann M. Babyak Schnars, whom he married Oct. 4, 1958; two daughters: Terri (Kelley) O'Neill and Jody (Kevin) Miller, both of Ashville; two sons: Tom and Tim Schnars, both of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Shannon and Casey O'Neill, both of New York City, and Corey and Ryan Schnars, both of Sugar Grove, Pa.; a stepgrandson, James Miller of Ashville; two brothers: Ron (Peggy) Schnars of Jamestown and Bill (Vicki) Schnars of Mooresville, N.C.; a sister, Donna (Terry) Swanson of Jamestown; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, "Junior."
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
