On July 5, the Jamestown Gateway Train Station will be the site of the George Barone Baseball Reunion.

Former players, assistant coaches, parents and friends connected with the Jamestown Babe Ruth League and the Cal Ripken League, the Chautauqua County 16-18 League and the County Travelers travel team, plus friends and coaches from Dunkirk and Fredonia, are invited to attend the event.

A total of 301 players have been contacted for the event from 2-5 p.m. with a chicken barbecue. Presale tickets are $15 each and $18 at the door.

It is important to know the exact number of people as soon as possible.

Payments and responses should be sent to Geraci and Company, 18 East Third St., Jamestown, N.Y. 14701. Checks are to be made payable to Barone Baseball Reunion. Phone numbers to call are 487-2800 or 499-5646.

There will be a drawing for a 32-inch television donated by Dan and Beth Hocking of Acme Appliance. Also, there will be many other drawings.

So far, the committee has received donations from Tom Horton’s, the Jamestown Cycle Shop, Save-A-Lot, the Jamestown Jammers, John Geraci, Marty Criscione, Lind Funeral Home, Chuck DeAngelo, Russ Diethrick, John LaMancuso and Dana Albert (Frito Lay).

”We thank these wonderful people that will help us, help the courageous children that have cancer,” said Barone. ”We are hoping we can give the children’s unit at Roswell Park Cancer Hospital a big check from all the proceeds from the reunion.”

Also to be honored are deceased players, coaches and umpires.

Anybody that knows how to locate Brett Shaw, Aaron Burnett, Aaron Zimmerman and Tom Grabowkski is asked to contact Barone at 483-2460.

Additionally, anybody who would like to help out at the banquet asked to contact Barone.

The additional financial assistance of the community is critical to the success of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame.
We gratefully acknowledge these individuals and organizations for their generous support.
