John Edward Wigley
John (known as Jack) was born and raised in Lakewood, N.Y. to William and Justine Wigley. After graduating from high school, he went on to play three years of professional baseball before serving two years in the military, where he was trusted enough to have security clearance at the Pentagon. After receiving his bachelor's degree in mathematics at U.C.L.A., he went on to teach and coach 34 wonderful years at La Jolla Country Day School before retiring in 1996.
Jack's passions were coaching, spending time on the golf course, e-mailing family and friends, watching ESPN and watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren excel in athletics and in life.
He will be extremely missed by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn, his four children, Joni, Jodi, Jeff and Jeri, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, his extended family and friends all over the world.
In celebration of his life a memorial will be held on Friday, June 17, at La Jolla Country Day School, 4-Flowers Theater, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to your local hospice organization would be appreciated.
The additional financial assistance of the community is critical to the success of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame.
We gratefully acknowledge these individuals and organizations for their generous support.
