Salvatore (Jim) Foti Reported Due For Appointment to Grid Coaching With Erie, Pa. Cathedral Prep

Former J.H.S. and John Carroll University Athlete to Succeed Larry Danbom

Salvatore (Jim) Foti, 106 Hazzard Street, is slated to become football coach at Erie, Pa., Cathedral Prep, succeeding Larry Danbom, former Notre Dame athlete, according to reports from Erie today.

Foti, a graduate of John Carroll University, Cleveland, where he played four years of football following his graduation from Jamestown High school in 1931, expects to receive definite word regarding the position in the near future.

Rev. Father W. E. Conway, director of athletics at the Erie school, is visiting in New England and efforts to confirm the appointment were unavailing. Foti informed The Journal today that he had applied for the coaching position with the Ramblers, but as yet had not received word of his appointment to the post.

Foti, guard, was a member of the Red and Green varsity team for four years, later playing frosh and varsity ball at the Cleveland university. He also played basketball here during his scholastic career.

The Jamestown athlete returned to his alma mater last year as football coach of the freshman squad.
