Justin R. Johnson

Johnson was The Post-Journal Co-Player of the Year and received the Frank Hyde Memorial Scholarship in 1994.

He received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he continued his basketball career. He played in 82 games for the Cadets and was selected to the Patriot League All-Academic team. He received the Superintendent’s Award at West Point and graduated as a Distinguished Cadet.

Johnson served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 864 Heavy Combat Engineers at Ft. Lewis, Washington. He was deployed to Thailand and Kosovo. His next duty station was at West Point where he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and then Captain.

In 2002 he played for the All-Army basketball team that won the Gold Medal at the All-Military Tournament at Ft. Hood, TX.

Following his five years of military obligation, he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers at Ft. Hood for three years. He is currently employed by Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, TX, as Director of Strategic Initiatives.

Johnson coaches youth basketball and baseball travel teams and resides in Belton, TX.
