Lloyd D. Moore

Lloyd D. Moore, 95, of Frew Run Road, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his family.
In recent years, he had been honored as the oldest NASCAR driver and was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Friends of Auto Racing Score Award 2007.

He was lifelong member of the Wheeler Hill United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher, trustee and treasurer. He spent many hours there in service to God.

He retired in 1974 after 17 years of service as head mechanic of the Frewsburg Central School Distract.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Taylor Moore; daughters: Virginia Inglesbury of Frewsburg, Luella (Duane) Nordlund of Frewsburg, Mina (Dennis) Wilson of Sinclairville, Barbara (Gary) Lobb of Frewsburg, Linda (Rev. James) Bailey of Cassadaga and Penny (Ken) Rosenberg of Frewsburg. In addition, Sandra Shongo of Charlotteville, Va. And Earl Shongo of Shevlin, Minn.; his 14 grandchildren included: Walter Inglesbury, Arthur ( Susanne) Inglesbury, Eric (Alyce) Inglesbury, Dana (Julie) Nordlund, Darryl (Janice) Nordlund, Lisa (Michael) Johnson, Melissa (Joe) Stelmack, David (Erica) Lobb, Marci (Roger) Wolfe, Nathan (Debbra) Bailey, Matthew (Jeanine) Bailey, Jessie (Todd) Andersen, Amanda (Jerod) Harness, and Steven (Deb) Cline. Also he was blessed with 32 great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Gladys Mara, Ruth Lindquist, Lena Turner and Esther Hart; and an infant brother, Gerald Moore.

The funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday in Wheeler Hill United Methodist Church, Frewsburg. The Rev James Bailey, pastor of Park United Methodist Church, Sinclairville, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

The family will receive friends 4 to 8 P.M. today in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
