Oscar I. Carlson

Oscar I. "Augie" Carlson, 78, formerly of R.D. #1, Johnson Road, Jamestown, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 1980, in Fenton Park Nursing Home. He was a plumbing and heating contractor for many years as the proprietor of the Oscar Carlson Plumbing and Heating Co.

A lifelong area resident, he was born in Sweden on April 7, 1902.

Carlson was a member of Plumber and Steamfitter Union Local 233 and was an avid sportsman, including a professional boxer in the 1920's.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Lindberg, whom he married in December 1924; a daughter, Mrs. Wallace Thorp of Stockton; two sons, Wally Carlson of Jamestown and Lanny Carlson of Port Crane, NY; seven grandchildren, Donny, Danny and Peggy Thorp of Stockton, Cynthia Ann, Cathleen and Mark Carlson of Jamestown, and Tanya Carlson of Binghamton; and seven great-grandchildren; and a brother Nels Carlson of Russell, PA.

He was preceded in death by five brothers: Swante, Axel, Charles, Victor and Andrew Carlson.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Starke A. Driscoll, pastor of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Bemus Point, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home
