Since 1945, only three people have worn the name tag “sports editor” of the Jamestown (NY) Post-Journal. Frank Hyde (1945-1979), Jim Riggs (1979-2014) and Scott Kindberg (2015-present) have provided reliable, trustworthy, and award-winning sports news in communities across Chautauqua County. For over 75 years, these three men have faithfully and conscientiously reported the youth, high school, collegiate and recreational sporting activities that are part of the spirit of this county.
Hyde was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame in 1983. Riggs was honored with a 2016 selection. In 2023, Scott Kindberg will join his late media colleagues as a CSHOF inductee.
Kindberg was born in Jamestown in 1960 and has lived in the city his entire life. He is a 1979 graduate of Jamestown High School, a 1981 graduate Jamestown Community College and earned a journalism and communications degree from Point Park University in 1982.
