Susanne V. (Golen) Bastedo, 86, of Sumner Street, formerly of Highland Ave., Collins, passed away at home Saturday evening Jan. 11, 2020 surrounded by family .

Susie was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Gowanda, the daughter of Robert and Mabel ( Charlesworth) Vogtli.

Susanne co-owned Golens Golf Shop and Range in Jamestown for 30 years. Not only was Susanne a good golfer she also excelled in bowling. In 1993, she was inducted into the Jamestown Area Bowling Hall of Fame, in 2004, she was inducted into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, she was City Champ in Jamestown four times, carried a 190 plus average and was on the PBA for for three years. Susanne was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Gowanda, she also was a member of the Gowanda Country Club, the Gowanda Moose Lodge 1382 and the Slovenian Club .

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Sue (Jan Brown) Golen of Jamestown; a son, Edward M. Golen Jr. of Erie, Pa.; along with grandchildren: Anthony Mueller, Jacob and Joseph Golen; two great-grandchildren also survive along with stepchildren: Danny, Robare and Judy and there families .

Susanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Edward M. Golen Sr. (2009) and Norman Bastedo (2010); and brothers and sisters: Ada Wallace, Joseph Vogtli, Victor Vogtli, Robert Vogtli Jr., Charles Vogtli, MaryLou Vantino and Diane Wilber. Susie was also preceded in death by a step daughter, Melody Lynn Bastedo.

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda, from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday where funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in the Collins Center Cemetery.

Memorials May be made to a local charity of ones choice.
