BUFFALO — Cheryl Bailey’s athletic administration resume is quite a lengthy one.

The Jamestown native has added another impressive entry to it.

The 1973 Southwestern Central School graduate was one of 12 people inducted Wednesday night into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, which honors those who have enhanced lives with their performances and commitment to Western New York.

Bailey, who is now among 388 inductees since the GBSHOF’s inception in 1991, certainly belongs in this group. Her journey in athletics has taken her from athletic department positions at Denison University and the University of Wisconsin, to the chairmanship of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Committee; and from the general manager position of the United States Women’s Soccer National Team to the executive director role of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Those accomplishments have also earned her induction into the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame in 2018; the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Section VI Hall of Fame in 2019; the Denison University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020; and the University of Wisconsin Hall of Fame in 2022.

The additional financial assistance of the community is critical to the success of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame.
We gratefully acknowledge these individuals and organizations for their generous support.
