Trevor Hitchcock

Hitchcock enrolled at SUNY Fredonia and was taken under the tutelage of legendary track & field coach Jim Ulrich Sr., a 2016 CSHOF inductee. Over the next four years, 1992-1995, Trevor became a force to reckoned with across the state and nationally.

He was a nine-time State University of New York Athletic Conference champion. He won the 35-pound weight throw in 1993, 1994 and 1995. He also captured the hammer throw title in 1993, 1994 and 1995. Hitchcock was the SUNYAC discuss king in 1993 and took the shot put crown in 1993 and 1994.

Trevor was a six- time New York State Track & Field champion. He earned the indoor 35-pound weight throw crowns in 1993, 1994 and 1995. He was the NYST&F outdoor hammer throw king in 1993 and 1994 and captured the discus title in 1993.

Hitchcock competed successfully at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships during his Fredonia career. He was the 1994 indoor 35-pound weight champion and finished second the following year. He was runner-up in the hammer throw in 1994 and was fifth in ‘95. Those four podium finishes earned All-American status for him.

Trevor established SUNY Fredonia records of 189’ 7” in the hammer toss and 62’ 10.5” in the 35-pound weight throw.

He was inducted into the SUNY Fredonia Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.

Hitchcock begin his coaching career in the Jamestown Public Schools. He was the freshman football coach at Jamestown High School from 1996-2012. He was the assistant track coach at JHS in ‘96, the head track coach at Frewsburg,1997-1998, and an assistant track coach at SUNY Fredonia 1998-1999.

He worked as a basketball official for 7 seasons before becoming a certified track official in 2013, a position he still holds. He was elected President of the Southwestern Chapter of the New York State Track Officials Association in 2022.

Trevor Hitchcock is an elementary teacher in the Jamestown Public Schools and resides in Dunkirk. He and his wife are are parents of two children.
